Who we are

A full overview of the organisation

Safeguard Youth Collective is an illustrative youth-centred organisation that puts adolescents at the heart of peer education, safe spaces and clear routes into protection and health services. Based in Trans Nzoia, it works primarily with urban and peri-urban adolescent groups.

Trained young facilitators open conversations on safety, rights and help-seeking; safe-space sessions give peers room to speak without stigma; and pathway navigation links young people to trusted NORCCAPA member services when they disclose risk or ask for help. Adult backup and facilitator care sit behind the youth-led surface so safeguarding standards hold.

As an associate member of NORCCAPA since 2022, the Collective brings youth voices into network conversations and keeps pathways practical for young people. This profile is a composite for structure and tone — replace with confirmed member content before publishing as fact.

Purpose

Mission, vision and the change they seek

01

Mission

To equip adolescents with peer support, knowledge and safe pathways when they need protection or care.

02

Vision

Young people across the North Rift who know their rights, trust help-seeking routes and are heard in decisions that affect them.

03

The change

The Collective seeks pathways that feel safe and real to adolescents — and a network that tests whether referrals actually work for young people, not only for adults designing the map.

Youth-led facilitation, safe spaces and warm links into the NORCCAPA member network for protection, health and education support.

What guides them

Principles in practice

01

Youth-led, adult-backed

Adolescents lead conversations; adults hold safeguarding and escalation standards.

02

Pathways that feel real

A service map is only useful if young people would actually walk it.

03

Confidentiality with care

Safe spaces protect privacy while making clear when harm must be escalated.

04

Voice in the network

Adolescent experience is treated as evidence the association needs to hear.

From the field

Notes from the work

Illustrative snapshots of how the organisation shows up for children and families.

A safe space that unlocked a first step

In a peri-urban cohort, a young person used a confidential session to ask for help; a facilitator arranged an accompanied first contact with a trusted protection member. Follow-up confirmed the handover had held. Illustrative composite — not a confirmed individual story.

Facilitators who are also cared for

Peer educators received debrief time and adult backup after a difficult disclosure session. The Collective treats facilitator wellbeing as part of safeguarding, not as an afterthought. Example tone for youth-led practice inside the network.

Feedback that changed a pathway note

Young people reported that a referral point felt intimidating; the Collective carried that feedback to a NORCCAPA learning session. The pathway map was adjusted so the next adolescent would meet a clearer door. Illustrative of network contribution, not a published redesign.

Questions

Engaging with Safeguard Youth Collective

Practical answers for partners, families and peer organisations — illustrative until confirmed by the member.

Contact NORCCAPA
How can an adolescent join a Safeguard Youth Collective space?

Illustratively, entry is through peer educators, school or community partners, or a public contact channel. Confirmed schedules and safeguarding entry points should be published by the Collective before use as fact.

What happens if someone discloses risk in a session?

Facilitators follow escalation protocols with adult backup and aim for accompanied referral into trusted NORCCAPA member services. Live safeguarding procedures must come from the organisation itself.

What does NORCCAPA associate membership mean here?

As an associate member since 2022 in this seed, the Collective amplifies adolescent perspectives and tests whether pathways work for young people. Verify membership category and rights with NORCCAPA.

Can partners volunteer or collaborate with the Collective?

Partnerships usually require youth-safeguarding orientation and clarity on youth-led versus adult roles. Formal volunteering or collaboration should be confirmed directly with the Collective.
