Who we are

A full overview of the organisation

North Rift Education for All (NREFA) is an illustrative school-facing organisation that partners with schools, parents and community structures so children stay in learning and are protected from harm in and around school. Its work sits at the intersection of retention, safeguarding and advocacy across Nandi County.

Teams work with attendance monitors, focal teachers and parent groups to identify learners at risk of dropping out, strengthen reporting channels and reconnect children after exclusion or harm. When a child’s barrier is in the home or the wider protection system, NREFA seeks warm links to family-strengthening and protection members in NORCCAPA.

Through the association, NREFA aligns safeguarding practice with peer organisations and contributes education evidence when the network speaks collectively. This landing profile is a composite example — replace with confirmed organisational content before publishing as fact.

Purpose

Mission, vision and the change they seek

01

Mission

To keep children in safe, dignified learning spaces and remove barriers that push them out of school.

02

Vision

A North Rift where every child learns in an environment that protects their rights and dignity.

03

The change

NREFA seeks schools where safeguarding is routine, at-risk learners are noticed early, and education barriers are addressed together with the wider protection network — not in isolation.

School partnerships, parent engagement and learner-centred safeguarding — connected to the wider protection network through NORCCAPA.

What guides them

Principles in practice

01

Dignity in learning

Every child deserves a school environment that protects their rights as much as it teaches skills.

02

Early notice

Attendance and wellbeing signals are treated as invitations to act, not as paperwork alone.

03

Whole-pathway honesty

Schools are not asked to solve protection alone — links to the network are part of the design.

04

Evidence with care

Advocacy claims are grounded in field notes and reviewed with peers before they travel.

From the field

Notes from the work

Illustrative snapshots of how the organisation shows up for children and families.

An attendance signal that opened a pathway

A partner school flagged repeated absences; NREFA and the parent group discovered barriers that needed family support, not only classroom discipline. A warm referral to a NORCCAPA family-strengthening member kept the learner in view. Illustrative composite — not a confirmed individual case.

Reporting channels that learners would use

Focal teachers redesigned reporting so learners could raise concerns without public stigma. Coordination with protection members meant the next step after disclosure was clear. Use as tone for school-safeguarding practice, not as published metrics.

Evidence that travelled into a joint brief

Field notes on transport and safety barriers were peer-reviewed and contributed to a NORCCAPA education brief. The association spoke with one voice because members had shared the same underlying evidence. Illustrative of advocacy collaboration, not a confirmed publication.

Practical answers for partners, families and peer organisations — illustrative until confirmed by the member.

Contact NORCCAPA
How can a school partner with NREFA?

Illustratively, schools begin with a partnership conversation covering retention monitoring, safeguarding routines and referral links. Confirmed partnership criteria should be published by the organisation before use as fact.

How are learners referred beyond the school?

When barriers sit in the home or protection system, NREFA aims to link to NORCCAPA family-strengthening and protection members with follow-up. Live referral contacts should come from the association pathway map.

What does NORCCAPA membership mean for NREFA?

As a full member since 2021 in this seed, NREFA co-develops safeguarding checkpoints and supplies education evidence for joint advocacy. Verify status and contributions with NORCCAPA.

Can volunteers or partners support NREFA’s work?
